ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.  We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and articles as well.  Many college and public libraries have microform copies of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years.  In them, you can find lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time, make a trip to the library and check it out.  Ask a librarian how to get started and how to print out the articles that you find.

The East High School wrestling team defeated the matmen representing the Rochester Shop School in a meet held in the East High School gymnasium yesterday afternoon. The final score was 48 to 18, quite different than the first match between the schools. The East High showed a complete reversal of form, and almost put the meet away at the start, capturing the first three events. Shop School did not win a single fall, its only win being on a judge's decision. Over one hundred supporters from the two schools watched the matches.

Shop School's only win came in the fourth bout. After fifteen minutes of fighting, Vollick was awarded a judge's decision over Meyer. In the 158-pound class, Swarthout, of East High, and Cook, of Shop School, showed the fastest match of the afternoon. Swarthout was clearly the winner but he was unable to put Cook's shoulders to the mat. Cook worked out of hold after hold, only to have another one clamped on him, and after nine minutes of this, Swarthout was awarded a judge's decision.

The Rochester Shop School grappling team decisively defeated East High School in the first intercollegiate wrestling match staged in Rochester last night, winning by 38 to 26. Shop School's victories in the heavier classes decided the meet. The feature bout of the evening was between Peter Bartolomeo, captain of the Shop School team, and Captain Samuel Otto, captain of the East High team. The bout decided the meet, Bartolomeo gaining the decision because of his aggressiveness.

East High started with a rush, winning the 108-pound bout by decision and the 115-pound bout in straight falls. Both teams showed s good knowledge of the game. Frederick J. Weismiller, physical director of the Central Y.M.C.A., acted as referee, and the judges were Robert Bernhard and Harry Bloss.

The lid will be pried off for high school wrestling tonight when the East High grapplers will tackle the boys representing Rochester Shop School at the American Theater in Joseph avenue. Seven bouts are on the program. Shop School has had previous experience in the mat game, but it is entirely new to the East High boys. Inspite of this, however, East High promises to put a good team in the field.
