articles as well. Many college and public libraries have microform copies
of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years. In them, you can find
lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time,
make a trip to the library and check it out. Ask a librarian how to get
started and how to print out the articles that you find.

Regular practice for the 1938-39 wrestling season started early in the fall with
a large amount of candidates. From this group, the coaches were able to pick a
very promising team, for each of the eight scheduled meets. Every man who
wrestled in one of these meets did so by proving his ability in elimination
bouts. This gave every man a chance to wrestle in a meet, and also made the
entire team stronger.
Because of the large number of freshan candidates, the varsity men found
themselves hard pressed for positions on the team. In one or two cases, the
freshmen proved to be superior.
Although two of the veterans are leaving this year, the outlook for the future
looks bright. Already, Mechanics Institute has received requests for meets with
teams not on previous schedules.
The varsity squad this year consited of Jerry Ricci, 121; Jack Malone (Capt.),
128; Murray Reinman, 136; Joe Conte, 145; Harold Lugert, 155; Walt Navik, 165;
