ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.  We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and articles as well.  Many college and public libraries have microform copies of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years.  In them, you can find lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time, make a trip to the library and check it out.  Ask a librarian how to get started and how to print out the articles that you find.

Thirty-six wrestlers in Section 5, Class A, will compete in the semifinals and finals this afternoon and tonight at East High School. Preliminaries will start at 2 o'clock and finals at 8.

Corning Free Academy tops this year's entry list with seven. East Rochester has five, Madison four, Webster and Geneva three each, Pittsford, West, Monroe and Canandaigua two each, and Jefferson, Edison Tech, Franklin, Charlotte, Penfield and Eastridge, one each. Thus, 15 of 24 schools eligible for Class A will be represented.

Tony Beisman and Rob Torrens, Section 5 wrestling co-chairmen, point out that the sport has grown rapidly in recent years. Ten years ago only nine city high schools and fewer than a half dozen others participated, whereas today 62 of 124 high schools have varsity wrestling.

Three defending champions will be in the field of 36 when the Section 5 Class A Wrestling Championships are decided at East High School tomorrow.

With three qualifiers in each weight class, a drawing at the noon weigh-in will determine the semifinal opponents for the titles at 8 o'clock.

Chuck Caleo of Edison Tech (127-pound class), Nate Turner of Franklin (138 pounds) and Robert Mosier of Monroe (154 pounds) are the only 1960 winners back for another try. Six defending sectional champs were eliminated in the Interscholastic League's recent individual tournament.

The city circuit sends 12 grapplers to the Section 5 test, as does the Monroe County League and the combined Finger Lakes-Southern Tier area.
