ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.
We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and
articles as well. Many college and public libraries have microform copies
of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years. In them, you can find
lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time,
make a trip to the library and check it out. Ask a librarian how to get
started and how to print out the articles that you find.

Finger Lakes Champions
The C.A. Matmen, coached by John Palmer and assistant coach Dan
Moore, proved to be one of the best wrestling teams ever assembled
in Western New York State. The grapplers finished the season
unscathed in Finger Lakes Conference action, ending with a 10 win,
no loss record. Canandaigua also won the Wayne-Finger Lakes
Tournament, coming up with 6 first place winners: 120 lbs. - Tony
Addante, 133 lbs. - Rick Tripodi, 138 - lbs. - Greg Thomas, 145 lbs.
- Gary Carpenter, 165 lbs. - Dick Davis, and 180 lbs. - Charlie
Carmel. This spectacular team will long be remembered as one of the
best at Canandaigua Academy.
Canandaigua sent seven wrestlers to the semi-final round of the
Section 5 Championships, and emerged from the competition with four
title-holders; this was more than any other team in Section 5.
C.A.'s Sectional champions were Tony Addante (120 lbs.), Greg Thomas
(138 lbs.), Gary Carpenter (145 lbs.), and Dick Davis (165 lbs.). (Academian, 1964)
