articles as well. Many college and public libraries have microform copies
of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years. In them, you can find
lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time,
make a trip to the library and check it out. Ask a librarian how to get
started and how to print out the articles that you find.

The Varsity Wrestling Team won the 12 team, Section 5 Class B
tournament held at Keshequa Central School at the end of February.
The guys were in a tight race down to the end with Jasper-Troupsburg
and Lyndonville.
Individual accomplishments include senior Caleb Olcott defending his
sectional title at 145lbs. Eighth grader Daniel McGillivray winning
his first sectional championship at 130 lbs, and senior Chad
McCaslin winning his first sectional title at 275 lbs. Caleb and Dan
were also voted as the 2 most outstanding wrestlers (MOW) for the
sectional tournament.
Caleb was again honored with the Sportsmanship award for Section 5
Class B, while Coach Hopkins was selected as the Section 5 Class B
coach of the year. The top 4 wrestlers in each weight class also
qualified to wrestle at the state qualifying tournament in Brockport
the following weekend. The following wrestlers qualified for the
Brockport tournament. In parenthesis is their finish at the Section
5, Class B tournament in Keshequa.

This was the most ever a Genesee Valley Wrestling team has had
qualify to wrestle at the state qualifying tournament. In order to
advance to the State Tournament in Albany a wrestler would have to
win the tournament at Brockport which included the top four
finishers from Class B, BB, BBB, BBBB. Caleb made it as far as the
semi-finals before he was knocked out by a wrestler from Holley.
Great job guys on a fantastic season. A special thank you to all
four seniors (Caleb Olcott, Jeff Robbins, Chad McCaslin, and Gary
Preston) for all of their commitment and dedication over their 5 and
6 year careers. Best of luck to you four as you take the lessons

At Belmont, a trio of forfeits made the difference as
an inexperienced Genesee Valley squad fell to Alfred-Almond, 39-27.
When the Jaguars played out a full match, they split eight decisions with
Alfred-Almond, but an injury default victory for Brian Harrison over Max Evans
and forfeit wins for Jason Fraser, Robert Comer and Chris Waite gave the Eagles
the match.
"We had two brand new kids in our lineup this year that had never seen the mat
before and that was (Corey Presutti) at 140 and (Caleb Swann at) 145," said
Genesee Valley head coach Matt Hopkins. "We've lost a lot of experience over
last years team and our inexperienced guys are doing a good job. We're just
giving up too many forfeits."
Jeff Robbins, Dan McGillivray and Chris Green each won matches by pinfall for
the Jaguars while Caleb Olcott took a narrow 5-4 decision over Andrew Davis.
"It was a good opening match for us. I'm pleased with
our performance. It was a good match at 152 pounds for both Caleb and Andrew
Davis. Another good match at 125 and 130 for Jeff and Dan."
