Is this the official site of NYSPHSAA Section Five Wrestling?

No.  This is an independently owned and run site.

Why does it cost money to access the Results & Rankings?

A lot of people don't seem to realize that it takes a lot of time and money to run a website of this caliber.  If it didn't, then every section would have a cool site like this.  For its first two years of operation, ArmDrag.com was completely free for everyone; well, everyone except the owner.  As it has evolved, it's become too expensive for one person to pay for and develop by himself.  So expensive, in fact, that it came down to either closing-up shop, or charging a membership fee.

We think you'll agree that the amount of information you get for $10 is tremendous.  Please sign up to show your support, get the information you want, and keep this site going for years to come.

How come my team's results aren't posted?

Because no one sends them in.  Each team should find a way to submit their results ASAP after each match or tournament.  Click here for more information on submitting results.

How do you determine the individual rankings?

Rankings are determined based on results sent to ArmDrag.com (so tell your coach to send us yours!).

It's simple logic.  First, we look at head to head matches, then we look at common opponents.  If you're beating the same guys worse than someone else, then you'll probably get ranked higher.  Note that more recent wins count more than less recent wins.

Remember that they're rankings, not predictions.  What's the difference?  Rankings are based on what has happened, predictions are based on what will happen.

If you think any of the rankings are wrong, and you have a good reason why, write to info@armdrag.com.  There's a pretty good chance we'll agree with you!

Individual rankings mean nothing.  Why do you do them?

Because of this poll:

Why was my post deleted from the discussion board?

This site will be kept as clean as possible.  Posts that degrade others, contain foul language, have nothing to do with wrestling, or are just plain annoying will be deleted.  (And yes, foul language written with symbols (like *@#$!!) will also be deleted.)  If you would like a certain post or thread deleted, write to info@armdrag.com.

I want to create my own wrestling website.  How do I get started?

First, you'll need a web site host.  Unless you're running your own web server, you might consider using one of the more popular hosts listed below.

  • If you don't want to pay anything, the most popular free hosts are GeoCities, Homestead, Tripod, and Angelfire.

  • If you can afford to pay a monthly hosting fee, and you want a really easy way to make a sports site, check out eteamz.

  • ArmDrag.com uses iPowerWeb.com.

Also, you'll need HTML editing software, which helps you design your pages.  Most web site hosts provide a limited but easy-to-use HTML editor for free.  Other popular editors are Microsoft FrontPage and Macromedia Dreamweaver.  These tools are quite simple to use, and they don't require you to be able to code in HTML.

To get started, we suggest you visit GeoCities and dive right into things by signing up for a free web site.  They'll guide you along, and you'll have a simple site up and running within a couple hours.

Why are the fax numbers long distance?

ArmDrag.com uses free fax services provided by www.callwave.com and www.efax.com. If you know of a free fax service local to Rochester, let us know.
