The First Wrestling Season Ended
With the Yale meet held in the Armory Saturday night, the first season of a Cornell wrestling team was brought to a close. Considering the inexperience of the men and the newness of the sport to the University, the team has done exceedingly well. Experience has shown that no team can expect extraordinary success the very first year it is organized, and wrestling is no exception. The score of the Yale meet by no means indicates the relative merits of the two teams; many of the bouts were hard fought and difficult to decide. And then it must be remembered that Yale stands first in this branch of athletics; and the sport has been popular there for many years. The draw with Pennsylvania is especially creditable when we consider the excellent record of that university and the fact that the meet was the first in which a Cornell team had ever competed. It is to be regretted that owing to a technical rule the team will not be permitted to compete in the Intercollegiate meet this year. An excellent showing was assured.
