The Bay State Games of Massachusetts were established in 1982 based upon the model of New York's Empire State Games, which began the National State Games movement. As a longtime member of the National Congress of State Games, members were saddened when the Empire State Games shut their doors. Unfortunately, recent efforts to reinstate the State Games have been unsuccessful, therefore the Bay State Games would like to welcome New York wrestlers to compete in our Summer Games wrestling competition.

Wrestling has become a popular sport at the Bay State Games attracting 400-500 participants in middle school, high school and open divisions. Athletes from New York can now join participants from Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire and Rhode Island to compete in this folk-style tournament to be held July 8 & 9, 2016 at the UMass Boston Hockey Arena in Boston, MA. The KAP Wrestling system is used to manage and score the tournament. Championship banners will be presented to the top Massachusetts and out-of-state club with the highest participation numbers and placement point totals. Athletes who win a medal will qualify for the 2017 State Games of America Wrestling competition in Grand Rapids, MI.

Additional information on the Bay State Games Wrestling competition can be found on the attached flyer. For questions, please contact Kevin@baystategames.org.

Bay State Games is pleased to provide New York wrestlers with the opportunity to once again compete in a State Games wrestling competition. We look forward to seeing many of you in July of 2016 and wish you the best of luck during the upcoming winter season.

Sincerely,
