April 03, 2016

Tommy Cox of Deer Park won a national title for the second consecutive year in Virginia Beach after registering an 18-3 technical fall in the finals of the Senior 113-pound bracket on Sunday.

Cox jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a takedown against Austin Neal of North Carolina just 20 seconds into the championship match and picked up near fall shortly afterwards to take a 5-0 lead. He never looked back, piling up takedowns and back points on the way to the top of the podium. Cox will attend North Carolina State next year.

Also making the championship round were Freddy Eckles of Lake Shore, Conor Melbourne of John Jay Cross River, Jacori Teemer of Long Beach and Jon Errico.
