Reflection: 2016 NCAA Wrestling Rule Changes

No set of rule changes in recent memory has inspired more impassioned debate or had a greater immediate impact on college wrestling matches than the four-point near fall and out-of-bounds stalling rules introduced before the 2015-16 season. While the four-point near fall has been almost universally lauded as a step forward, the out-of-bounds stalling rules have been much more controversial. Because the NCAA makes wrestling rule changes in two-year cycles, neither is likely to change going into next year, but should they remain after that?
