Diakomihalis, Arujau Dominate; Will Represent Team USA at the Cadet World Championships
June 06, 2016

Last year, New York's top two high school wrestlers, Yianni Diakomihalis and Vito Arujau, battled each other for a spot on the Cadet World team.

This weekend, they both punched their tickets to the Cadet World championships in Tbilisi, Georgia with dominant showings in Akron, Ohio.

The future Cornell teammates combined to go 13-0 at the tournament with nine technical falls as Arujau captured the 58 kg crown and Diakomihalis prevailed at 63 kg. They often wrestled one after another on the same mat, with their fathers, Vougar Oroudjov and Ilias Diakomihalis, in the corners of both during their matches.

Diakomihalis, who earned a Cadet World title in 2015, was in complete control throughout the event. He didn't yield a single point, beating his opponents by a combined 69-0.
