Four reach finals at Spencerport wrestling tourney
January 03, 2017

Clarence's wrestling team made the most of its opportunity to get in some quality time on the mat over the holiday break by way of battling against some of its toughest competition to date in the annual Spencerport Tournament, held Wednesday and Thursday.

Four Red Devils reached the finals of their respective weight class's brackets, while a fifth made it to the consolation final — but, unlike a majority of tournaments, everyone who attended was guaranteed more than just two matches. That's because the Spencerport Tournament holds a round-robin format for matches during the first day of the competition, meaning even wrestlers who go 1-3 or 0-4 on the day will come back for the second day of competition.

It's one of the main reasons coach Jason Chase enjoys heading to Rochester every December.
