Knuutila still the pulse of NCCC wrestling
February 23, 2017

SANBORN — The sign hanging on the wall in the wrestling coaches’ office reads:

I don’t want to do it!!!

I don’t have to do it!!!

You can’t make me do it!!!

I’m retired!!!

Six years into retirement, Eric Knuutila is still doing what he has always wanted to do.

“My wife says they are going to roll me up in a wrestling mat with a whistle in my mouth when I die,” Knuutila joked this week.

Officially a volunteer assistant, Knuutila, 70, manages many aspects of the NCCC wrestling program, and has helped lead the Thunderwolves — like the Frontiersmen and Trailblazers before them — to their 20th regional championship.
