Division I National Duals Cancelled for 2017-18
June 29, 2017
The first National Dual Meet Championships were held in 1989 after John Graham, the creator of the Virginia Duals decided college wrestling needed a dual meet champion. Every year since the event has been held with the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) becoming its steward in 1992. After becoming a fan favorite event, especially during the time when all divisions were under one roof, the National Duals has undergone many format changes in recent years, searching for a way to appease college coaches while still entertaining fans. What was once a festival of college wrestling has been split up and, at the Division I level, no longer even features a bracket. It appears even that will cease to exist for the 2017-18 season.
