RIT announces Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2017

ROCHESTER, NY - Eight individuals and one team will be part of the RIT Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2017, announced on Thursday, July 20. The induction will take place on Sunday, Oct. 15 at the Gene Polisseni Center on the RIT campus.

Inductees include: Mark T. Carson '10, basketball; Sarah Dagg '11, hockey; Joseph Dioguardi Jr. '90, soccer; Geoff Dornes '10, baseball; Michele Halleran '01, softball; Greg Moss, distinguished service; Patrick North '03, '09, wrestling; John B. Pomeroy '77, swimming; and the 1954-55 women's fencing team.

Patrick North (1999-2003)

Wrestling at 165 pounds, Pat North earned two All-American honors. In 2003, he placed second, while in 2002 he was fourth. The native of Schenectady, N.Y., grappled from 1999-2003 and was named Senior Male Athlete of the Year in 2003. North also captured two NCAA Qualifier Championships in 2001-02 and 2002-03. He was a two-time RIT Invitational Champion, competing against schools from divisions I, II and III. In 2002-03, North compiled a 29-3 dual match record (.906 winning percentage). He was equally impressive in the classroom, earning National Wrestling Coaches Association Academic All-American honors three times. North graduated with a bachelor's degree in computer science and went on to earn his master's degree in imaging science.
