Lauren Burroughs: 'If there's one thing more motivating than having a dream, it's sharing one'
August 18, 2017

Note: Lauren Burroughs spent four years as a reporter at The Buffalo News before moving to Nebraska to take a new role as wife and mother for Team Burroughs. We asked her to share her thoughts and experiences leading up to Aug. 26, when her husband, Jordan, takes the mat in Paris at the World Championships.

In journalism school they teach you how to write a good story. You become an expert at interviews — attempting to uncover a person's deepest emotions in just a few minutes. Write about someone else? No problem. What you don't learn in journalism school, though, is how to write about yourself when you marry into a story.

I first saw Jordan in 2011. I was in the stands at the NCAA Championships in Philadelphia, watching my brother Matty compete when this seemingly tall, dark and handsome wrestler took the mat. Turns out I was wrong about the tall part.
