Gregor Gillespie can remember the reactions he received when he told those close to him he was thinking of making the transition from wrestling to mixed martial arts.

Some of the most searing words are still carved in his mind.

"Some people were very pumped," Gillespie said. "Other people that knew me were like 'Man, I don't know if he's a fighter.' "

That doubt isn't what has fueled the former all-American wrestler at Edinboro in his MMA career.
