High school wrestling remains among the 10 most popular boys' sports in America, but there's no denying its issues with participation. While the 244,000 participants is up about 4,000 net from 2000, the numbers have trended in the wrong direction over the past six years.
According to National Wrestling Coaches Association executive director Mike Moyer, participation is down approximately 30,000 wrestlers since 2011. That's a problem.
