February 18, 2018

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA - Penn State proved why it's the best wrestling program in the country as the top-ranked Nittany Lions shut out Buffalo, 55-0, at Rec Hall on Sunday afternoon. The loss capped one of Buffalo's most difficult schedules in recent memory as Penn State was the fifth nationally-ranked program the Bulls faced this season.

It was a raucous scene as a sell-out crowd of 6,431 fans packed Rec Hall. The Nittany Lions rolled out six top-ten nationally-ranked wrestlers, four of which ranked in the top three. Penn State dominated the dual, winning seven of the 10 matches by pin to improve to a perfect 14-0 on the season.

Buffalo finished the regular season with a dual record of 5-12. The Bulls will next begin their preparation for the Mid-American Conference Championships which begin on March 3 at Central Michigan. Redshirt-junior Jake Gunning will look to repeat as MAC champion at 285 lbs. and Bryan Lantry, ranked 15th in the nation, is pursuing his first MAC title.
