Woodworth's final ride; Redskins make season last for legendary coach

CANISTEO — There are always plenty of reasons to make the season last, but for the Canisteo-Greenwood Redskins wrestling team, there was one big incentive to make the season last as long as possible this winter.

After building the Redskins wrestling program from the ground up over the last few decades, legendary head coach Mickey Woodworth is finally rolling up the mat on his incredible career.

In his time as varsity head coach, Woodworth has produced countless sectional championships, a NYS Dual Meet Runner-up trophy, a Section V Dual Meet Championship and a NYS Individual Champion.

While those accomplishments are awesome, it's what has happened off the mat under Woodworth's tutelage that will be remembered forever. Woodworth has built a program that not only has success on the mat, but has changed the community around it for the positive.
