SUNY Sullivan wrestling thrives in rebuild

NEWS

SUNY Sullivan's wrestling program was at a crossroads one season ago.

Only one wrestler finished the year. Coach Anthony Ng hinged the team's future on an 18-member recruiting class.

Valley Central graduate Rob Satriano (133 pounds) and East Ramapo graduates Jhavon Innocent (184) and Josh Jean-Baptiste (285), three of those freshmen, recently returned from the National Junior College Athletic Association championships in Iowa. Innocent and Jean-Baptiste each picked up a win. Innocent defeated SUNY Ulster's Mike Fekishazy, the seventh seed, in a consolation round.

Only one other SUNY Sullivan wrestler had won a match at nationals: Port Jervis graduate Dylan Booth.
