NCCC's Keller wins national title; NT native is Thunderwolves' first champ since Rashad Evans

Troy Keller fell short of his national championship aspirations during his freshman season at Niagara County Community College.

In his second and final run at a title as a sophomore, he left little doubt who the best 165-pound junior college wrestler in the country is.

The North Tonawanda native cruised over his national competition at the NJCAA Wrestling Championships this weekend in Iowa, winning his five matches with two pins, two major decisions and a tech. fall. His closest competitor finished within nine points.

"He was dominant," NCCC coach Keith Maute said. "No one was even in the same ballpark as him."
