December 26, 2018

The Windsor wrestling program is hosting the 62nd Annual Windsor Christmas Wrestling Tournament, the oldest wrestling tournament in the state. The tournament will take place on Thursday, December 27th and Friday, December 28th at Windsor Central High School.

There will be three sessions, with the time and admission as follows: Session 1 (Thursday 12pm) is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Session 2 (Friday 9am) is $5 for adults and $3 for students. The tournament final Friday at 4:30 will be $3 for adults and $2 for students.

This year's tournament will feature 34 teams from three states: BGAH, Canandaigua, CBA/JD, Chenango Forks, Colonie, Corning, Deposit-Hancock, Dryden, Elmira, Greene/Oxford, Groton, Homer, Honeye Falls-Lima, Hoosick Falls, Horseheads, Indian River, LaSalle Institute, Liberty/Eldred/Fallsburg, Maine-Endwell, Mountain View, Mount Sinai, Norwich, Panther Valley (PA), Phoenix, Saratoga Springs, Spencer Van-Etten Candor, Suffield (CT), Susquehanna Valley, Tioga, Towanda (PA), Union-Endicott, Walton, Waverly, and Windsor.

Last year's tournament featured 4 State Champions and 16 total state place winners. Back to defend their crowns this season are Dante Geislinger (State Champion), Anthony Noto (State Champion), John Worthing, Matthew Campo, Shane Hoover, Ross McFarland (State Champion), and Tyler Rice. Norwich won the team title for the first time in school history, and is back this tournament to defend its crown.

"In the past, the quality of wrestling at Windsor has been outstanding. Coaches feel that the tournament is a good indicator of how their wrestlers may do in top notch competition. Although our Honor Roll of State Champions is long, our list of Sectional, League, and Class Champions is even more outstanding. We feel that the Windsor Christmas Tournament should be rightly labeled as, 'The Tournament of Champions,'" said Windsor wrestling coach Jeff Nolan.

The tournament final will be live streamed on the Windsor CSD Facebook page Friday at 4:30.
