UB's Perry Makes Podium at Midlands

EVANSTON, IL - For the first time in his career, University at Buffalo wrestler Brett Perry earned a spot on the podium at the Ken Kraft Midlands Championships on Sunday. The Bulls' 197-pounder finished eight at the prestigious tournament hosted by Northwestern.

After going 4-1 on Saturday, Perry faced off against Illinois' Andre Lee in his first match on Sunday. Perry took a 3-1 decision for his fifth straight win of the tournament.

Perry dropped his next match to Cal Poly's Thomas Lane by an 11-6 decision to earn a spot in the seventh place match. In the seventh place match, the redshirt-senior was pinned by Fresno State's Josh Hokit and had to settle for eighth place.

Troy Keller also earned his way into Sunday action, but his run ended after his first match of the day. Keller dropped an 8-3 decision to Jonathan Vinvet of Brown.
