Snow and Caccamise Punch Their Ticket To NCAA Wrestling Championships
February 24, 2019

BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The College at Brockport hosted day two of the 2019 NCAA Division III Mideast Wrestling Regional Championships on Sunday and saw all four competing athletes palce in the top seven, while two wrestlers took third place to secure a spot in the 2019 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships.

Matt Caccamise was the first Golden Eagle to secure the third place spot. Despite a tough start to the day, losing in the semi-finals, Caccamise bounced back well, earning a 6-1 win by decision to give himself the chance for third. In his final match, Caccamise worked hard and grinded out an 8-4 win by decision to secure the third spot.

The next Golden Eagle to earn third place honors was Ryan Snow. Similarly to Caccamise, Snow dropped his semi-final match, but turned around and defeated his next opponent with a 10-4 decision. His third place battle was a low scoring affair with neither wrestler really holding an advantage. When the third period sounded, Snow was on top 3-2 and won by decision.

Donald McCoy and Jackson Bell both took home seventh place finishes and both followed similar paths. McCoy and Bell took losses in their first matches of the day, which put them both in the seventh place bout. The opponents that they were set to battled took forfeited due to medical reasons and it allowed Bell and McCoy to finish the day in the seven spot.

Up next for Brockport will be the 2019 NCAA Wrestling Championships which will take place Friday and Saturday, Mar. 8-9 in the Berglund center in Roanoke, VA.
