Mike Rigerman's journey to a wrestling state championship began a year ago. But it was no ordinary year for the Pioneer senior.

In between trips to Albany was a school-record-breaking season in his No. 1 sport, the one he will play in college. This past fall, Rigerman ran for 2,116 yards and 29 touchdowns while leading the Panthers to the Section 6 Class B football final. However, after that season ended with a 14-7 loss to Cheektowaga at New Era Field, Rigerman turned his attention to his goal on the mat.
