St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute would like to announce that after twenty-two years, including the past fourteen seasons as the head coach, Wrestling Coach Peter Kennedy '97 will be stepping down to focus more attention on his newly-enhanced responsibilities within the St. Joe's Admission Office.
"We want to thank Coach Kennedy for his remarkable commitment to our student-athletes and the entire St. Joe's community," said Brian Anken, Director of Athletics. "The success of our wrestling program throughout his tenure is a direct reflection of the positive impact and valuable mentoring he provided for both his student-athletes and staff."
Under Kennedy's leadership, the program experienced tremendous success at the local, regional, and state level including 145 dual meet wins as Head Coach, 111 All-Catholic Champions, 129 CHSAA Placewinners, 14 CHSAA State Champions, and two NYS Federation Placewinners. In addition, the Marauders earned five MMHSAA Championships and eight All-Catholic Championships, including this season -- capping off a very successful career.
A search for the next head wrestling coach will begin immediately. Interested candidates should contact Mr. Anken at banken@sjci.com.
