ATHENS, OH - The University at Buffalo wrestling team competed in their final duals of the season on Sunday. The Bulls split a pair of duals, losing to Ohio in the opener, 27-10, before beating Gardner-Webb, 34-12.

Wrestling in an arena powered by only emergency lighting due to a power outage on campus, the Bulls struggled to find their footing against the Bobcats.

Derek Spann tied the dual early with a 14-4 major decision over Giovanni DiSabato.

However, the Bulls dropped their next three matches to fall behind 17-4 before Troy Keller got UB back on track at 165. The senior needed to rally to defeat Joe Terry and he did just that. Keller was trailing late in the match before he was able to get a two-point nearfall in the final seconds to force overtime. In OT, Keller got an early takedown to win by sudden victory.

At 197, Sam Schuyler rounded out the UB winners with a 2-1 decision over Jake Walker.

The Bulls fared much better against Gardner-Webb, winning seven of the 10 matches.

Spann won his match by forfeit to give the Bulls a 6-3 lead. The redshirt-junior finished the dual season with a record of 17-2. The 17 dual wins are tied for sixth in school history for a single season.

Marcus Robinson followed with a 10-5 decision over Brandon Bright at 141 to extend the UB lead to 9-3.

At 149, John Arceri won by fall over Anthony Schiess to put the Bulls ahead 15-3. Arceri needed only 1:12 to earn his first pin of the season.

After Michael Petite won by forfeit, Pete Acciardi earned Buffalo's second fall of the dual with a third-period pin of Samual Mora. Acciardi got the fall with just 17 seconds left in the match for his first pin of the year.

Schuyler earned his second win of the day with a 4-3 decision over Roderick Davis at 197. It was the Schuyler's fourth straight dual win.

In the final bout, Nolan Terrance earned a 9-1 major decision over Gabriel Pickett at 285. It was a strong showing for Terrance, wrestling in the final dual of his career.

The Bulls finished the season with a record of 9-11, marking the fourth time in the last five years UB has won nine or more duals.

Next up for Buffalo are the MAC Championships, scheduled to being March 7 at Northern Illinois.
