Joye Levendusky 4th at Nationals
March 07, 2020

McKendree college wrestler Joye Levendusky, originally from western NY, took 4th at the inaugural Cliff Keen National College Women's Wrestling Championships hosted by the Women's Collegiate Wrestling Coaltion (WCWC). This was the very first event put together specifically for NCAA women's programs.

After a bye and wins in the 2nd & 3rd rounds, #3 seeded Levendusky faced #2 seed & teammate Alexandria Glaude in the semis. Glaude was a 2018 U23 world bronze medalist. Levendusky lost the match 4-1. After getting a tech fall over the #6 seeded Annabelle Helm of Gannon, Levendusky faced the #1 seeded Alyvia Fiske of Canada-based Simon Fraser University in the 3rd place match. Fiske was on the US World Team last season. Levendusky lost the match 5-0 and finished in 4th place. With that finish, Levendusky becomes a 2x All-American as she finished 7th at the WCWA Nationals last year in Atlanta.

The Illinois-based McKendree Bearcats placed 1st in the team race. Simon Fraser was 2nd, King 3rd & Colorado Mesa 4th.

Joye will compete for a Junior World Team spot in May.
