EDITOR'S NOTE: The following article was written about a month before legendary Southwestern Central School wrestling coach Walt Thurnau was inducted into the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame in February 2013.

Harry Truman is Walt Thurnau's favorite Democrat (a decidedly short list), he told me so. At the 32nd annual Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame induction banquet on Feb. 18 at the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, "Coach" Thurnau will join the distinguished members of that institution.
