Don Murray is back, but cloud hangs over wrestling team
October 30, 2020

Don Murray can step back into his role as SUNY Brockport wrestling coach, but now an investigation about possible NCAA violations looms over Murray and the team.

Murray, the college and former wrestlers at the Division III college celebrated his 50th season as coach in 2019.

But SUNY Brockport announced a suspension of the team last month, and that Murray had to stay away from the Golden Eagles, and work off campus during an investigation over whether wrestlers violated policy to prevent the spread of the coronavirus at the school. Murray, 77, teaches a wrestling class at the college.

SUNY Brockport officials said in a statement Thursday the school ended up self-reporting possible violations of NCAA rules after the school's COVID-19 investigations.
