Brockport Wrestlers Wrap Up Dual Season with a Win

Eliah Golding and John Wilkinson each record pins for Brockport
Eliah Golding scored a pin at 149 pounds to lead Brockport to a 37-9 victory over RIT

Sophomore Eliah Golding (Albany, NY/Colonie) recorded a fall in 2:54 and freshman John Wilkinson (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) pinned his opponent in 4:30 to lead The College at Brockport Wrestling team to a 37-9 victory Wednesday night at RIT in the final dual match of the season for the Golden Eagles (6-1).

After RIT (4-11) won two of the first three bouts of the match, Brockport won the final seven bouts for the victory.

Jose Vazquez (Huntington, NY/Huntington) won a tight 2-0 decision at 125 to open the match. Two bouts later, Golding recorded his pin to start the seven-bout streak for the Golden Eagles. Thomas Rispoli (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow), ranked No. 9 in the country at 157 pounds, won by technical fall with a 21-6 score advantage at the 5:07 mark of his match.

Justin James (Spencerport, NY/Brockport) won a 3-0 decision at 165 pounds and Michael Bosco (East Northport, NY/John Glenn) scored a 4-3 decision at 174 pounds. After a forfeit victory for David Kellogg (Adams, NY/South Jefferson) at 184 pounds, Brockport's Tom Voorhis (Chenango Forks, NY/Chenango Forks) posted a technical fall at 197 with an 18-2 advantage at the 6:45 mark of the bout and Wilkinson finished off the scoring with his pin in 4:30.

The victory is head coach Don Murray's 299th career win and his impressive record now stands at 299-72-7 for a winning percentage of .800.
