Jayhawks to Compete in Home Tri-Match

JAMESTOWN - The Jamestown community College wrestling team will be back in action this weekend as they host a tri-match against NCAA Division II Gannon University and NCAA Division III Thiel College.

The Jayhawks have compete once this season in a nontraditional dual against Thiel last weekend, falling 33-15. Trenton Donahue (DuBois, PA/DuBois Area HS) picked up two wins on the day in the 141 pound weight class. Donahue got the fall in the dual while securing the major decision in exhibition action.

Ross Abram (Eden, NY/Eden Central) was also a big winner this past weekend, picking up a fall in his first collegiate action in the 174 pound weight class. Taige Jones (Bemus Point, NY/Maple Grove HS) was the other winner for JCC, winning via decision.

Freshman Alex Christy (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia HS), who wrestles 197 pounds, moved up a weight class in exhibition action, picking up a 3-2 decision win.

For the Tomkats, they had three wrestlers pick up falls on the afternoon while adding two tech. falls.

The Golden Knights will come into JCC having already competed in a historic season, coming off a Super Region I championship this past weekend. Gannon will be sending eight qualifiers to nationals, including for Jayhawk Cameron Page.

Gannon will bring up their underclassman to get them the on mat experience.

Action starts on Saturday, March 6th, at 4 p.m. with JCC facing Thiel. After that match, Thiel will face Gannon and JCC will cap the night off against Gannon.
