Caccamise Heads into Season Ranked #2 Nationally in 125 Pound Weight Class

Junior Matt Caccamise of the SUNY Brockport wrestling team is nationally-ranked No. 2 in the 125 pound weight class by InterMatWrestle.com heading into his 2021-2022 campaign. Caccamise and the Golden Eagles will open up the season at the Mount Union Invitational on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Caccamise finished his 2020 season with a 30-2 overall record and placed first at the NCAA Regionals to punch his ticket to nationals for the second consecutive season. He won the regional title following a thrilling 7-5 sudden victory win over nationally ranked No. 7 Daniel Ortega of TCNJ. He opened the season with a first-place finish at the Brockport Open and he also added tournament victories at the New York College Tournament and the John Summa Invite. He placed second at the New Standard Invite and third at the Mount Union Invitational. His season was cut short at NCAA's due to the pandemic.

The SUNY Brockport wrestling program is one of the most decorated programs in the history of Division III wrestling. Since their inception in 1963, the Golden Eagles have won five NCAA National Team titles, 27 Golden Eagles have won individual NCAA national titles and the program has produced 147 All-Americans.
