BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo wrestling team had their three-dual winning streak snapped by Big XII-opponent North Dakota State, 34-7, at Alumni Arena on Saturday night.

The dual started at 141. With Ben Freeman out with the flu, true freshman Jack Marlow earned his first career start. He battled into the second period but was pinned by Dylan Droegenmueller.

John Arceri followed with an impressive 10-2 major decision over Gaven Sax to cut the NDSU lead to 6-4. Arceri was in total control the entire match.

After dropping a decision at 157, the Bulls nearly got a huge win at 165. Noah Grover faced off against #9 Jared Franek and after a takedown and four-point nearfall in the first, looked to stun his nationally ranked opponent. Grover led 11-4 in the third period and looked to earn even more back points. However, Weber was able to turn defense into offense and pinned Grover with just 56 seconds left in the third.

That moment seemed to take the air out of the building and the Bulls.

Tristan Daugherty got the final points for the Bulls with a 7-5 decision at 125.

"We were flat tonight," head coach John Stutzman said. "I take full responsibility for tonight's performance. As a staff, we need to do better."

The Bulls (3-4) will next wrestle against Lock Haven and Bucknell next Saturday.
