LEWSIBURG, PA - The University at Buffalo wrestling team swept a pair of duals at Bucknell on Saturday afternoon. In the opener, the Bulls rallied to defeat the host Bison, 18-15. UB cruised past league-foe Lock Haven, 21-10, to improve to 2-0 in Mid-American Conference action.

"What a great team performance today," head coach John Stutzman said. "Freeman, Arceri and Acciardi stole the show. Those guys stepped up and we're super excited to go 2-0 today. Those two teams were tough."

The Bulls had to rally to beat Bucknell. After dropping the first two matches, Ben Freeman got the Bulls going with a 6-4 decision over Noah Levett. With the match tied, 2-2, after the second period, Freeman got two third-period takedowns, including one late to earn the 6-4 decision.

In the 149 bout, John Arceri was trailing 4-2 in the third but got a late takedown to force overtime. He then got a takedown in the first overtime to score the 6-4 sudden victory and tie the dual.

Ty Raines gave the Bulls their third straight win at 157. Trailing 1-0 after the second period, Raines earned two takedowns in the third period to win, 4-2.

Bucknell fought back with a pin at 165 to put the Bison ahead, 12-6. However, the Bulls won the next three matches to take control of the dual.

Giuseppe Hoose kicked things off with a 10-5 decision at 174.

Pete Acciardi followed with an incredible effort at 184. After falling behind 6-0 in the first period, the redshirt-junior battled all the way back for the 9-8 decision.

Sam Mitchell capped things off with a 2-0 decision over Mason McCready.

It was a much easier go-of-things against Lock Haven in UB's second dual of the day.

Spann set the tone early with a pin of Gable Strickland in the third period. It was Spann's first fall of the season and put the Bulls ahead, 6-3.

Freeman and Arceri followed with their second wins of the day. Freeman won a 10-4 decision over Nick Stonecheck followed by a 6-4 decision by Arceri over Connor Eck.

Noah Grover (165) got his first win of the day, a 10-5 decision over Ashton Eyler, for the Bulls third straight victory.

Jay Nivison followed with a 4-3 decision at 174 and Acciardi got his second win of the day with a 4-1 decision at 184.

The Bulls impoved to 5-4 with the wins. They have now won five of their last six duals. UB returns home to host Clarion on Thursday at 7 pm at Alumni Arena.
