RIT advances four to NCAA Regional semis

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA. - Senior Kaidon Winters, juniors Austin Lamb and Colby Giroux, joined freshman Josh Harkless in advancing to the semifinals of the NCAA Mideast Regionals, Saturday.

Winters pinned Perry Maio (The College of N.J.) in 3:39 in the opening round and then pinned Tyler Newton (University of Pttsburgh-Bradford) in 2:06 in the quarterfinals of the 157-pound bracket. Winters will face Muhlenberg's Anson Dewar in the semifinals.

Lamb took a pair of 6-1 decisions with the first coming over Oswego's Isaac Mathews and then over Matt Surich (The College of N.J.) in the quarterfinals in the 165-pound bracket. Lamb goes against Elmira's Brian Schneider in the semifinals.

Giroux started the day with a 9-1 major over Bryce Smith (Oswego) and then took a 3-0 decision over Cortland's Brian Torres in the quarterfinals. Giroux takes on Daniel Smith (The College of N.J.) in the semifinals.

Harkless pinned Scranton's Steve Murphy in 4:32 to open the day and followed that with a 4-2 quarterfinal victory over Kyle Hillermeier (N.J. City University). Harkless faces Quinn Haddad (The College of N.J.) in the semifinals.

The second and final day of the NCAA Mideast Regionals begins Sunday, Feb. 27 at 11 a.m.
