Bostwick Comes to Elmira After Spending the Past 10 Months at St. Francis de Sales in Ohio

ELMIRA, N.Y. - Charles "CJ" Bostwick III has been chosen from a pool of candidates to lead the Men's Wrestling program at Elmira, Director of Athletics Rhonda Faunce announced last week. Bostwick takes over for Cody Griswold, who will continue to serve as the head coach of the women's program at Elmira.

Bostwick comes to Elmira after spending the past 10 months at St. Francis de Sales School in Toledo, Ohio where he served as an educator in computer literacy and applications, along with his duties as the head assistant wrestling coach at the all-boys college preparatory institution. Along with his educational duties, Bostwick mentored a handful of athletes while working with the wrestling staff to assist in roster-building strategies, facilitating individual workouts, along with demonstrating techniques. During his short time at St. Francis de Sales, he successfully mentored one NHSCA All-American. Additionally, the coaching staff produced a Second Team All-Three Rivers Athletic Conference wrestler, one district qualifier, and one district alternate as well. Five wrestlers earned All-Academic Three Rivers Athletic Conference recognition.

"God has played an insurmountable role in my coaching journey and I cannot praise Him enough for his knowledge, love, and guidance throughout this process", said Bostwick. "I would like to thank President Lindsay and Rhonda (Faunce) for the opportunity to serve the Elmira College community as their Head Men's Wrestling Coach. I am incredibly excited to lead the Soaring Eagles Men's Wrestling program."

"Thank you to Cody Griswold for laying the groundwork for academic and athletic success over the past couple of years. It is an honor to lead this program, in which we will pursue excellence on a daily basis with humility and respect. I am humbled by their trust in my vision for the Men's Wrestling program. We will strive for academic success, improving all aspects the program, and developing strong, successful men of character."

A Fort Wayne, Indiana native, Bostwick previously spent two years at the University of Mary, a Division II institution in Bismarck, North Dakota as the Assistant Wrestling Coach and Director of Operations. During his time with the Marauders, Bostwick mentored 17 NWCA Scholar All-Americans, while coaching four National Qualifiers and three NCAA Division II All-Americans. Additionally, Bostwick worked closely with the social media and compliance side of the program while managing budgeting and marketing of the program as part of a staff who was responsible for bringing in 17 recruits and guiding one student-athlete to All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference honors.

"I am very excited to have CJ joining our staff in the coming weeks", said Rhonda Faunce, Director of Athletics. "His wealth of knowledge not only in wrestling, but from an educational side is something that will pay dividends with our student-athletes. Not only will our men's wrestling program benefit from CJs presence, but the rest of the athletics staff and Elmira college will as well. I'm very much looking forward to his arrival."

Before his time with the Marauders, Bostwick worked with Warrior Elite Wrestling Club as a college club coach, along with North Side High School as the Head Wrestling Coach. With the two programs from 2018-19, Bostwick worked with Fargo Nationals All-Americans, along with producing four 2019 regional qualifiers, one 2019 Summit Athletic Conference Champion, and the 2019 Male Athlete of the Year with North Side.

Bostwick wrestled at Heidelberg University in the 184-pound weight class from 2013-16. During his time as a student-athlete in Tiffin, Ohio, Bostwick was a two-time varsity letter winner while helping the Student Princes to an Ohio Athletic Conference Championship during the 2014 season. Bostwick received his Bachelor's degree in Special Education from the University of St. Francis in 2018, while earning his Master's in Education from the University of Mary in 2021.
