Ethan Lamphier inducted into Wellsville Athletic Hall of Fame

Wellsville High School Athletic Director Erica Aftuck and the Wellsville Hall of Fame Committee honored the Wellsville High School 2022 Wellsville Hall of Fame Class Friday night during halftime of the homecoming football game.

Honored were Ethan Lamphier, Valerie "Babe" Meyers, Alyssa (Smith) Wixson and Rayanna Anderson.

The Wellsville wrestling program has produced Section V and state and national champions. At the top of the list for wins with 164 is Ethan Lamphier.

He started his career in the youth program in Wellsville, considered one of the best in the state, thanks to his parents, Larry and Ellen Lamphier, who volunteered for decades.

He left the youth program in seventh grade to start his varsity career and in eighth grade, placed in Sectionals and moved on to the state qualifiers. He continued to place in sectionals and state qualifiers.

As a senior, Ethan went 39-4, and equally impressive, was honored by New York State with the Class BBB Sportsmanship Award. He was also named an Expressway Conference Most Outstanding Wrestler, first-team all star and a Big 30 Wrestling All-Star.
