Elmira Women's Wrestling Places 10th At Adrian College Invitational

ADRIAN, MICH. = The Elmira College women's wrestling program wrapped up a busy weekend of action on Sunday by competing at the Adrian College Women's Invitational. The Soaring Eagles recorded 48 points as a team and finished 10th overall out of 21 total programs. Tayana Labady '25 was the highest individual finisher for the Purple & Gold as she placed fourth at 191 pounds.

INDIVIDUAL FINISHERS: Labady (4th ? 191 lbs.), Tomlinson (5th ? 101 lbs.), Chakouian (8th ? 155 lbs.)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Labady battled through the consolation rounds for the Soaring Eagles to eventually advance to the third-place match at 191 pounds. She opened her day with a loss in the quarterfinals before rallying for a pair of victories via pin against two wrestlers from North Central College. Labady would match up against Brittney Reed from Emory & Henry to battle for third place as Reed pinned Labady at the 1:02 mark.

Skylynn Tomlinson '26 would also battle through the consolation bracket at 101 pounds for Elmira after dropping her quarterfinal bout to open the day. Tomlinson won her first consolation bout via a pin before dropping a decision in the next round to move into the fifth-place match. She would pin Kelly Enriquez from Wisconsin ? Stevens Point 1:36 into the bout to secure fifth for the Purple & Gold.

Skylah Chakouian '25 opened her day with a victory via a pin to advance to the quarterfinals at 155 pounds for Elmira. She dropped her quarterfinal bout and consolation matchup to move into the seventh-place bout. Chakouian would finish eighth on the day after an injury default kept her from battling for seventh against Charissa Fauber from Trine University.

Gabby Bradigan '26 notched a pair of victories via pin in the consolation rounds of the 136-pound bracket after dropping her opening bout of the day. Bradigan's pin against Aliza Leander from Sacred Heart would advance her to the consolation bracket championship match against Ellyana Kuzma from Indiana Tech. In a rematch from a day earlier in a dual between Elmira and Indiana Tech, Kuzma would be victorious again with a pin against Bradigan at the 3:38 mark.

Mariyah Casados '26 would also advance to the consolation bracket championship as she competed at 170 pounds for the Purple & Gold. Casados rallied for a pair of wins via pin and decision as her 8-7 victory against Payton Curley from Lourdes University secured her spot in the consolation championship. Casados would go toe-to-toe with the top-ranked wrestler from Region I and No. 6 nationally ranked Jacklyn Smith from Sacred Heart. Smith would come away with a 4-2 decision over Casados.

The Soaring Eagles had a pair of wrestlers compete at 109 pounds as Ariyanna Orosco '26 defeated fellow Elmira 109-pounder Kaitlyn Potter '26 in the second round of the consolation bracket via a pin. Leslie Monterrosa '24 competed for EC at 143 pounds and would record a victory in the second round of the consolation bracket with a 10-0 Tech Fall win over Anna Tuuri from Wisconsin ? Stevens Point. Hazel Dahlquist '25 wrestled at 170 pounds for Elmira and battled through a stacked weight class as she notched a victory via a pin in the opening round. She would see her day come to an end via a pin as she matched up against her fellow teammate (Mariyah Casados).

The Purple & Gold will take some time away from the mat over the next two weeks as they prepare for a dual on the road against nationally ranked Lock Haven University on December 1.
