Despite personal tragedy, the Lansing native is focused on his upcoming trip to the Summer Games in Paris
ITHACA, N.Y. - Local wrestling icon Kyle Dake will make the trip to Paris, France in early August. The Lansing native and Cornell University graduate is going there to compete in his second Olympic Games with his family in tow.
It's a welcome change from his first trip to the Olympics in 2021, when relatives couldn't accompany athletes to Tokyo due to COVID-19 regulations, but an important member of Dake's family won't be present. Kyle's dad, Douglas Dake, died nine days before Kyle secured his spot in the Summer Games with a victory over Jason Nolf during the U.S. Olympic team trials.
