2009 Eastern States Classic
 One of the nation's largest high school wrestling championships will be in action on Friday January 9 and Saturday January 10 at the beautiful facility in Sullivan County Community College, Monticello, NY. The event was created in 1999 by the Friends of Section IX Wrestling with the goal of bringing to Section IX top competition for its member schools. Throughout the years many of the Classic Champions have gone on and won their individual state titles. The early rankings by the NYS Sportswriters' Association has many of the top teams led by defending team champions Shenendehowa-II ranked 2nd behind Spencerport-V in the D1 Team rankings. Other ranked teams include #4-Amsterdam-II, #6-Monroe-Woodbury-IX, #9-Burnt Hills-II, #14-Wayne-V, #15-MacArthur-VIII, and #16-Penfield-V. In D2 there is BGA-IV and Tioga-IV. Click for larger image.
