Joye Levendusky Avon (NY) alum Joye Levendusky placed 4th last weekend at the Missouri Valley Open, an event that has a reputation for being the toughest regular season tournament in female college wrestling. She wrestled a whopping 8 matches en route to the 3rd place match, with victories over a national finalist Margaret Douma of Oklahoma City 9-4 in the blood rounds & a tech fall over #3 seed, All-American Maggie Elliot from Adrian College. Levendusky went to the blood rounds in the Round of 16 after she lost a dramatic match 11-9 to #1 seed and eventual champ Anna Naylor from Cumberlands University. The deepest run of any freshman in her weight class ended with an 11-0 loss to #5 seed, All-American Shamera McTier of Missouri Valley, in the bronze match. Joye is now 16-4 on the season in her freshman campaign and will compete again at the Bearcat Open in January. Provided by Derek Levendusky. Click for larger image.
