Long Islanders rise to top at state wrestling tournament
February 27, 2015

ALBANY - Locust Valley's Hunter Dusold and Port Jefferson's Matteo DeVincenzo have been on a collision course since the beginning of the season.

After they became the first two Division II wrestlers from Long Island to win state titles last year (Dusold at 113 and DeVincenzo at 106), both moved up to 120 this season. Top-seeded DeVincenzo won by a technical fall over Joe Rorick (Odessa-Montour) in 6:00 and No. 2 Dusold won a 3-2 decision over Luke Yankloski (Wayne), both in the quarterfinals of the 53rd state wrestling tournament at Times Union Center.
