Yianni Diakomihalis, who is among the top high school wrestlers in the country as a sophomore at Hilton, plans to step on to an international stage.

Diakomihalis has a chance to represent the United States for the first time when he wrestles at the United World Wrestling Cadet Freestyle World Championships Aug. 25-30 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The three-time high school state champion qualified for the world meet among 15-17-year-olds when he won the 127.6-pound weight class Sunday at the UWW Cadet National Freestyle Championship in Akron, Ohio.
