April 13, 2016

Hilton High School junior Yianni Diakomihalis was named to USA Today's All-USA wrestling team in the 138-pound class.

In February Diakomihalis won his fourth consecutive New York state championship, becoming just the eighth four-time state champion in New York wrestling history.

When he defeated Matthew Grippi of Fox Lane (Section I) in the finals, he extended his state record consecutive match winning streak to 199.

Diakomihalis, who carries a 95 average, has verbally committed to attend Cornell which has traditionally had one of the top college lacrosse programs in the country. The Big Red have won the last 13 Ivy League championships and have finished in the top five as a team at the NCAA Division I tournament eight times in the 22-year coaching career of Rob Koll.
