Rashad Evans' untold UFC 205 story: This one's for you Mr. Dixon
December 15, 2016

There are few greater disappointments for a young man, than a father who promises to be there but disappears. Rashad "Suga" Evans' father did that to him and the pain propelled him to greatness.

"When you have a fight coming, you have to watch your whole mentality change over and you have to become this person who can go in that cage and survive… and win," he says. "I would just think about all the pain and all the hurt that I have, my resentment toward my father, and I would just channel it and I would just use that fuel."

To this day, when the former UFC light heavyweight champion steps into the octagon, the anger transforms him from a gentle, loving person into a violent man fighting for survival, even though he forgave his father long ago for abandoning him.
