Rashad Evans' untold UFC 205 story: This one's for you Mr. Dixon SOURCE: www.bloodyelbow.com December 15, 2016
There are few greater disappointments for a young man, than a father who promises to be there but disappears. Rashad "Suga" Evans' father did that to him and the pain propelled him to greatness.
"When you have a fight coming, you have to watch your whole mentality change over and you have to become this person who can go in that cage and survive⦠and win," he says. "I would just think about all the pain and all the hurt that I have, my resentment toward my father, and I would just channel it and I would just use that fuel." To this day, when the former UFC light heavyweight champion steps into the octagon, the anger transforms him from a gentle, loving person into a violent man fighting for survival, even though he forgave his father long ago for abandoning him.
