The Section 5 Friends of Wrestling is proud to announce the Wrestling Hall of Fame 2017 inductees. They will be honored at our twelfth annual banquet at Red Fedele's Brook House on February 8, 2017 and their names will be added to the Hall of Fame Plaque located in the lobby of the Brook House. Since the Section 5 Wrestling Hall of Fame was started in 1994, 138 people have been inducted.

The inductees for 2017 are:

Lucas Dobbins wrestled at Lyons Central School and was a 4 time Sectional Champion (1985, 1986, 1987, 1988).

Joe Gugino was a long time wrestling official and formerly was head coach at Greece Athena. He served as the WOA of Section 5 Assignment Coordinator and Chairman of the John Ordiway Award Committee that selected the Outstanding Wrestler at the State Qualifier. He is a WOA Life Member and also a member of the Section 5 Football Hall of Fame.

Art Killings wrestled at Edison Tech under Hall of Fame coach Frank Mielnicki. He was Section 5 Champion in 1971 and took 4th in the NY State Tournament.

Joe Kuras wrestled for Canandaigua Academy. He was Sectional Champion and NY State Champion in 1981.

Don Murray has been head wrestling coach at SUNY Brockport for 46 years. His teams have won 5 NCAA team titles, 36 Conference titles and he has coached 136 All Americans. He has hosted Olympic and national wrestling trials at Brockport and his high school camps benefited numerous Section 5 wrestlers. Many of his former wrestlers have been outstanding Section 5 wrestling coaches.

Dan Payne wrestled at Victor High School. He was Sectional Champion and Outstanding Wrestler in 1991. He later wrestled at Clarion and was 7th at the NCAA Tournament.

The Induction Banquet will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Red Fedele's Brook House Restaurant, Elmridge Center Plaza (near 3590 Ridge Road West and across from Ridgemont Country Club), Rochester, N.Y. 14626. There will be a social hour at 6 P.M. and a dinner buffet at 7 P.M. followed by the induction program. Tickets are $27 per person and must be purchased by January 30.
