Kyle Jirak played a bit part in Pioneer's triumph at the ECIC Championships last year.

He's hoping to have a slightly bigger role in his team's quest for a repeat during the annual two-day tournament, which runs Friday and Saturday at Starpoint High School in Pendleton.

Jirak heads into the competition with an honorable mention ranking in the Western New York Wrestling Review at the ultra-competitive 145-pound class. He has a 29-8 record, which includes a win over last year's Section VI Division I runner-up, Brian Ghiandoni of Starpoint.
