SALAMANCA — It's rare to hear wrestling coaches sit perfectly quietly during any match, much less a sectional championship.
But Pioneer Central coach Chris Edwards had a good reason not to speak up during the 195-pound championship final at Saturday's Section 6 Div. 2 state qualifier at the Seneca Nation's Allegany Community Center. Two of Edwards' top wrestlers competed for that final, with Tyler Smith topping teammate Mike Rigerman 5-3 for the first of the Panthers' two sectional titles. Doug Ciszak later won the 106-pound class.
